Randall is a wealthy neighborhood with a colorful history that dates back to the Prohibition Era, when it was at the center of the smuggling in and out of Gotham. So prevalent was the presence of smugglers that even today the buildings and subway tunnels are riddled with secret passages, hidden rooms and long forgotten speakeasies. This has made Randall a thriving tourist destination with an industry based around guided walking tours of the old speakeasies, smuggling tunnels, basement clubs and the sites of infamous gangland murders. Famous for its speakeasies in the 20s, it’s become equally well known today for its restaurants, micro-breweries and small venue theaters. The local community has gone to great lengths to fend off efforts to redevelop their neighborhood; preferring to keep it as it was before Gotham annexed it in the 1950s; this has had the unanticipated effect of making Randall a destination for filming when a turn of the last century back drop is needed. Randall is the location of the Puerto Guettal neighborhood; the fifth largest Cuban community outside of Cuba.
